Northwest Missouri State campus offers cannabis classes

Northwest Missouri State is offering the programs through a partnership with Green Flower. The company, part of Ventura, California-based Green Flower Media Inc., is partnering with colleges and universities nationwide to provide classes for those interested in getting in the cannabis business.

The local offering comes as companies across Missouri are gearing up to provide medical marijuana. The state is working through licensing and inspections of companies involved in cultivating, processing, transporting and selling medical marijuana to registered patients.

“This new non-credit certificate addresses the needs of one of the fastest-growing industries, Rebecca Lobina, director of continuing professional education for Northwest Missouri State, said in a release. “Students receiving a certificate from this program will have rapid skills to land in-demand jobs in the medical cannabis industry.”

The six-month programs cost $2,950 each, according to the university’s website. The classes are all online.
